Back in August, Twitter released it’s tweet reply control feature. Twitter is now reportedly now working on a new addition to this process to enable users to limit replies to followers only.
Your options currently are:
Everyone - default, public Tweet option
People you follow - Limiting your replies to only those you follow.
Only people you mention - The @handles that you’ve specifically noted in your tweet.
So the new option would "add your followers only”
Benefits of the new option:
Reduces opportunistic spammers and trolls
Great for focused meaningful chats that are limited to certain participants in your niche.
Business profiles would certainly want the majority of their tweets to be public. This could be a difficult balance for Twitter’s development team to work out, but it would allow for further community engagement.
